So last night was the world premiere of Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides held at Disneyland. The park was transformed yesterday to transport park goers into the land of the Pirates. Frontierland became a swash buckling good time for all those eagerly awaiting the movie premiere. As celebrities walked down the black carpet they were met by Pirate Mickey. Many of the celebrities took their time to sign autographs for the many adoring fans lining the black carpet. Then some lucky ticket holders were able to see the world premiere from the bleachers set up in Frontierland. After hearing some of the talk from some lucky fans that were able to attend I definitely am pumped. Hopefully the reviews are just as great as the word of mouth.
More interesting to me than the movie's release is the changes happening to the Pirates of the Caribbean rides beginning May 20th. On the same day that On Stranger Tides is releasing in theaters around the US, park goers at both Disneyland and Disney World will recognize a new character inside the Pirates of the Caribbean rides. The water projections of Davy Jones will be replaced with projections of Black Beard. Disney has said this change will not last forever and we can expect Davy Jones back later this year. I have a feeling if people really enjoy Black Beard they will find a way to keep him around. Perhaps the projections will alternate between the two? I got to see a video that someone recorded yesterday at Disneyland and I must say that it seems like Disney really hit the mark this time and it looks seamless. Sometimes the Davy jones projections got lost in the water so I'll have to ride and see if Black Beard does.
Who else is excited for Pirates?

Star Tours
So yesterday I brought you the updates that are happening over at Fantasyland. Today I'm going to talk about the major change coming to Hollywood Studios.
Star Tours 2: The Adventure Continues is set to open May 20th at Hollywood Studios. For those of you on the west coast there will be a special sneak peak that day is Disneyland but the ride won't be opening there just yet.
I couldn't imagine a trip to Disney with out at least one ride on the original Star Tours. Although the original was a little out dated I did get a little misty eyed the last time I rode it back last summer. However, as information continues to roll out about the new ride that misty eye has been replaced by eyes longing to make it out to the park to experience the new magic.
There are major differences with this ride compared to the first. To begin with, this ride will be presented in 3D. So far for me the type of 3D Disney uses in park rides has never bothered me as much as the 3D in movies does so here is to hoping it is seamless and effective. Next we have a new pilot. Although we aren't sure how he makes his way to the front of the cockpit C-3PO will be driving the new vehicle through out the galaxies. The vehicle is also "new". It looks similar to the original Starspeeder 3000 but is actually the "new" Starspeeder 1000. The numbers go down because the events that happen in this ride would actually happen before those of the original since it is based before the original film (heard it is between III and IV but won't know until we get ride reports). I don't know if this means the trip to the Death Star will not be to destroy it but I'm excited to find out.
The cue is also being updated and there are talks of a pre-ride situation that gets you ready to embark through out the galaxies. Also it seems the fast past system will finally be needed again because Disney has plans to keep you coming back for more.
The most exciting part of this ride will be the places you can go. Disney has released that there will be over 54. These locations include Coruscant, Tatooine, Naboo, Hoth, The Death Star and Kashyyyk. Each location will have its own character, chases, and turns at every corner. Disney has released a "passport" that you can print to keep track of where you have been. The ride was designed so that hopefully you come back time after time trying to get each of the different beginning, middle, and end. All of this hopefully will make Star Tours an E ticket ride again that keep a full cue and people coming time after time

Fantasyland Expansion
Hello,
So as many of you already know great changes are currently happening in Disney parks on both coasts. Today I'm going to focus on the major changes happening in Disney World over the next two years.
Fantasyland Expansion
Disney recently released several promo photos showing the progress of Beast's castle in the much anticipated Beauty and the Beast section of the park. There are also concept photos of the restaurant that will sit with in this area. Outside of telling us that the guests will have access to the ballroom, gallery, and notoriously off limits west-wing not much is known about this restaurant. It is said to be an "elegant" dinning experience so here is to hoping that Disney is adding another great restaurant that will allow adults to enjoy fine dinning while getting in touch with the magic. The Beauty and the Beast section will also feature Gaston's Tavern. Back during the D23 Expo the concept art showed Gaston's Tavern looking much like it did in the beloved classic with no shortage of antlers on the walls and furniture. I haven't yet found out if Gaston's Tavern will break the Magic Kingdom's tradition of no alcohol. If anyone knows for sure if it will or not let me know. Disney also released that there will be the cottage of Maurice but not much is known about what the purpose of Maurice's cottage is. This area will also feature a new gift shop not that there are any shortages of those through out the parks. The Beauty and the Beast expansion to Fantasyland is scheduled to slowly open in mid-2012.
The most exciting portion of this expansion is the new Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs ride. The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train appears to be a dark ride that will take guests through the country side and into the mine in which the Dwarfs work. The most exciting part of this ride though is not what it is about but the cars that will be carrying guest. Disney hasn't said exactly what the cars will do but it seems they will sway back and forth and perhaps moved in a fashion much like the Indiana Jones cars. I must say that I am excited to find out more about this as the expansion continues to be underway. This will probably one of the later portions of the expansion so I imagine it will open in early 2013.
Two less adult changes will be happening to Fantasyland as apart of this expansion. Disney has re-imagined Toontown into a Circus. The most notable part of this re-imagining is that Disney is moving the Dumbo ride from its original position to a new spot inside the circus themed section. As apart of the move Disney is also adding a second set of the beloved Dumbos in hope to cut down wait time for this popular attraction. The cue will also become an interactive cue featuring circus themed games and such. I have heard it is much like the Toy Story Mania cue and the new Haunted Mansion cue. Also it appears the cues will be covered. Hopefully these things combined will keep the little ones cool and entertained while they wait. The circus rethemeing also means that the beloved children's coaster Goofy's Barnstormer will be getting a makeover. Not much about the ride itself is set to change except that it will be renamed the Great Goofini and will be rethemed in the idea of a Disney version of those classic Houdini acts.

Fantasyland Expansion
For anyone who has been to the parks in recent months it is nothing new that the Fantasyland Expansion is well on its way. However, I have met many a Disney fan who are unaware of the exciting work happening in Fantasyland.
Under The Sea- Journey of the Little Mermaid will be the first part of the expansion opening in 2012. This ride will take park goers through the story of The Little Mermaid in a situation similar to that of The Haunted Mansion or The Seas With Nemo and Friends. By this I mean guests will ride in "clammobiles" while animatronic scenes happen around them. From the videos and photos that Disney has released it looks like it will be a great addition. So far it looks like the imagineers have done a great job trying to insure the animatronics look and act like the characters we all know and love. On top of all the new age animatronics will be several re-orchestrated songs that were apart of the movie. I can't wait to find out what the ride is like once complete.
*edited above article because Under the Sea- Journey of the Little Mermaid will not open in FL until 2012. However, if you need to see it asap it opens June 3 in California Adventures in CA.*

All things Disney
Hello out there,
So I decided it was time to start blogging about something that means a lot to me. This isn't going to be any sort of new blog because there are probably hundreds if not thousands of these blogs out there. The thing that will set this blog apart is it is a blog all about Disney from a woman's perspective. There are several "mommy" blogs about Disney out there run by women but I've come across few blogs that are for adults about the company and parks that are by women. I hope over time this blog grows and as I make it down to the parks more often I can build this into something successful.
Hope all are having a magical day and look forward to some Disney magic soon.
